The six pieces in this exhibit are taken from the series, “Painted Found Photos.” Photographic detritus, mined from antique malls, are here painted over in acrylic. Time has passed since the originals were glued into albums; the families, now scattered, are no longer in possession of their once-dear photos. But generations after they were created, we now look at these photos as works of design in their own right. We are reminded, by the snapshot leftover, of the tradition of making our everyday moments eternal and perfect. This human instinct for beauty and memory is not lost, even if the artifact of such motivation is.
